If you’re a musician, a promoter, a record label, or just nosey/interested in how things happen in the music business today, then you won’t want to miss the Un-Convention at OX4!

In the spirit of being UN-CONVENTIONAL proceedings will be hosted by legendary punk musician and author John Robb, (who has previously played solo and with his band Gold Blade at TRUCK).

The panels will include top musicians and industry professionals from Oxford and special guest panellists from around the country, and you lot will obviously get to have your say and ask questions afterwards.

There will also be the opportunity to mingle and enjoy a cup of coffee (or pint) and a lovely pie (yes, pies!) inbetween and after the sessions, before you head off to see THE BIG PINK, DALEK, JONQUIL and the rest…

Here's what the panels look like -

Panel 1: 12.30 – 2pm

Young & Talented; why that might not be enough to make a living out of music, and what else you might do.

Starting points:

The feasibility of having a career as a musician.
Looking at alternative ways of making a living as a musician (teaching, journalism, promoting, etc.)
Ideas outside the playing live and selling records model

Panel 2: 3pm – 4.30pm

Keep It Local / Made In OX4: how the future of the music industry could be in regional clusters. The potential for nurturing / recording / promoting talent at a regional level.

Starting points:

    Creating regional industry.
Is the relevant media still ‘Londoncentric’
    Scenes, and fanzines.
